Plenty of Freaks

Well, it has been awhile and lots of things have happened in the past few weeks.  BUT, I did accomplish one of my tasks and signed up on a dating site.  I received many emails from many crazy freaks.  It amazes me how many men take pictures of themselves showing their muscles and abs.  It is totally disgusting.  Grow-up I must say.

Anyways, I did receive an email from one guy and we chatted for a bit then he actually called and we talked for over an hour.  He seemed really nice.  He was 40, divorced, great job, 2 kids and hated his ex-wife!  We agreed to meet for dinner.  It went pretty good cause he did look like his picture, was really nice but just a little too desperate.  After that one evening, he wanted all of my time.  The texting was constant and on the hour, every hour even when he knew I was super busy.  So you guessed it...he didn't get a 2nd date.

So why do men think that all women want someone up their asses 24/7?  Yes, I do want a relationship but I think there is a happy medium.  I like my "me" time and he should have his "guy" time as well.  I don't NEED a man, I WANT one for companionship.  Life and memories are always better shared with someone.  I guess that may be a fault of mine and I may have to sacrifice and act like I NEED a man but I know there is some guys out there that feel the same way.

I think alot of these guys, and girls too, that are divorced think that 24 hour relationships are a must cause they have trust issues.  Most have been hurt in past relationships and think the only way they can trust someone is to be by their side all the time.  I totally understand that since my ex cheated on me constantly but sooner or later you have to let that go or it will ruin a relationship.  Trust me, I speak from experience.

But I have not given up.  I still believe my soul mate is out there. I honestly believe that everyone of us has a soul mate so if you haven't found yours, don't give up.

Short and sweet ladies.  Happy Hunting.

Fab in Your 40's

After speaking with Brandie and planning our FAB 40 party in Chattanooga, I decided to google about being 40 and single.  WOW!  This is all I got after reading an article about being single and in your 40's.  Yes, everything they said was true but it still got me no where closer to finding true love.  For those of you that are around my is a list that you will find interesting and of course my comments about each line item.

You should love being in your forties because...
  • Life begins at 40 - Whatever, it does not!  I have had a wonderful, exciting life.
  • Forty is fabulous - But alone at 40 is not so fab!
  • You are experienced enough to know your job well and young enough to work with energy and passion - I must agree
  • You know what you like - and not - in a relationship and are not afraid or embarrassed to ask for it  - This is true but this could be a negative cause it is probably why I am single.
  • You are not really interested in making new friends, but in spending quality time with the existing good ones - SO TRUE!
  • You know how to follow fashion and which clothes suit you best - YEP!
  • You know your body pretty well by now and can quite easily tell when something is not right - Yes but I still look up everything online and by that time I have decided I am dying.
  • You are the same age as Halle Berry, Nicole Kidman, Courteney Cox and many other hot celebrities in their forties - Who cares, they all have HOT young husbands and boyfriends plus are filthy rich.  No comparison to me.
  • If you had children in your 20s, then they are all grown up and you finally have free time for yourself  - N/A
  • If you have young kids, you have enough energy to have fun with them - Good luck to those who relate to this one. Glad its you and not me.
  • If you want to have children, it’s not that late to get pregnant yet - Are you kidding me?
  • If you married young, you should be proud of keeping your marriage alive for 20+ years
  • If you married recently, you have more chances of your marriage being a success
  • Unmarried women in their forties enjoy being alone more than younger single women - I wish whoever wrote this line was in front of me so I could bitch slap her.  She probably lives with 20 cats and never had sex!  Come on, get real!
  • 40 something women are more confident - I like to think I am but the longer I am single, the more I lose it.
  • Forty-somethings are taken more seriously
  • Women reach their sexual peak in their 40s - Of course this is my favorite!
  • Women reach their peak income when they are over forty - Not after a horrible divorce and losing your job with no one to help take care of you...
  • A woman’s creativity is enhanced in her forties - I do agree with this one.
  • Forty is the new thirty - Bullshit.  When I was 30 I was rocking it..skinny, could eat 3 Big Macs and not gain anything, and it was okay to date a guy in their 20's but now I do, well, I am called a cougar!

Now here are a few tips they give for the single woman.

If you are a single woman in your forties and just decided that is about time to find a partner, there are many ways to go about finding the right man.

These are four simple tips to keep in mind when looking for love in your forties:
1. Tell all your friends that you are looking.  They might have a male friend that recently became single and it is always is much easier to start a new relationship when there is some common point of reference.
2. Take a good look at the men around you at the gym, your art lessons, or whatever you are into these days. If he shares your same interests, that's a good sign!
3. Relax! Get rid of that 'wish list for the perfect man', and if you are truly convinced that finding a man is what you want, then show it!
4. Also consider using an online dating site or a dating service such as ,, Speed Dater or eHarmony. No, these are not only for young people. Most of these dating services target men and women of every age.  Give it a try, you will be surprised what you can find! Just be careful and don't get too carried away too soon.  While there are loads of wonderful men out there looking for a partner, there are also many creeps.  Use your common sense and enjoy it!

When I read it, I was like "no shit Sherlock".  Do you think I just keep it all to myself that I want a man.  I am sure my friends are aware of my situation cause they have to listen to be moan and groan about it all the time when I get a wine buzz going.  And number 2, must be for people who don't live in this area cause the men around here have one interest, party and sex.  Now what in the hell does number 3 mean?  I give up.  Now number 4 is interesting.  I do know alot of people who have done a few of these sites and it ended well but once again, I cannot imagine the pool around here being full of heartthrobs but hey, I will try anything once..or sometimes twice.

Well girls, sorry this one was a little boring but when I read this article, I just had to share it with you.  It amazes me that people make money, good money at that, writing articles like this.  Are there really women out there that are this clueless?  I would like to think I am not one of them.  Well, in case you are not aware, I am single, almost 40 and looking for a man so send them my way ladies.  (now number 1 is definitely checked off the list)

Happy hunting girls.

Lean on Me

I have always been one to put my friends first since they will always be around even after the boy leaves.  But I am so surprised by the women or should I say girls who don't do that.  My crew of girls would never dream of it so I don't understand why the others don't catch on to this especially in this town where they are 80% military and leave within months.  I guess as you age you learn how special and dear your friends are and that making new ones, true new ones, is not that easy.

For instance, Amber and I have been friends for along time now and even with her having a new "Moose", if I told her I needed a night out with just us two, she wouldn't question why I asked for just us and we would be on our merry way out that night.

I am just thankful that I do have the true girl and guy friends that I do.  So thank you Amber, Brandie, Holly, Zach (even though he sometimes test us), Andy and the few others.  Yes, that may seem like a small amount of friends to you, but to me, its not the quantity but the quality that counts.

With that being said, keep your friends close and dear to your heart, they will always be there to dry your tears, to lift you up, to tell you that your not a dumb ass when you screw up and most important, will be there to pour that glass of wine when your heart is breaking.

Now here is where it gets tricky.  When you or your friends do find your prince, will he be understanding of your "girl bond"?  If not, what happens?  Who would you choose?  Such a small four word sentence but it holds so much meaning.  We all would like to think we would choose our friends but sometimes we get blind when in love and forget.

Men are worse than use women though when it comes to having "boys night out".  We all have seen those groups out and how they flirt, how they cheat, how they always end up at the Gentleman's Club.  When us women do a "girls night out" it is usually just that, a bunch of females drinking wine, laughing, and if we do go out to a bar we are people watching or usually we get so wrapped up in our own conversation we do not even know the rest of the people around us exist.

I know that everything I have said is common sense and has heard these a few hundred times, but I lately, as I travel down a new path, I have been reminded how lucky I am to have such good friends.  So now, get off the computer and go tell your friends "thank you".

Happy hunting girls.

Oh Those Summer Nights

Sorry it has been awhile since I last posted but the heat has drained my brain.  So lets recap my past two weekends and how "lovely" (since the sarcasm) the men pool is in this horrible beach town.

I think the words to that Grease songs says it best..

Summer days drifting away
To, oh, oh, the summer nights

Two weekends ago, Amber and her new beau came over for a visit and of course, we had to hit the Tootsies.  Why do I put myself at this place every weekend?  Is it the fun vibe it sends off from the vacationers cause it sure isn't for the fast bar service or even the good looking men cause the eye candy has definitely gone down this summer.  Lets just say that night ended at around 5 am after a dip in the pool, biscuits, eggs and Sunny D with some professional divers.  lol.  I have determined that Buffalo Wild Wings, where we went to watch the UFC fight and Amber and I figured out a long time ago this is where the boys will be, may be a better ocean for fishing then Tootsies.  And since this is a tourist town and mostly you run into vacationers at the bars, we all know what they are looking  They are barking up the wrong tree cause this isn't my first rodeo boys.

Summer heat, boy and girl meet
But, oh, oh, the summer nights

This past weekend I went to Schooners to enjoy dinner and a drink by myself but ran into a crew of my "boys".  We ended up...wait for it, wait for it...TOOTSIES!  Unbelievable, how I get talked into this place again.  But we did have a good time, and yes my boys are military but most are married and know how to just have fun.  In their eyes, I am just one of the guys when we go out.  No hanky panky or sexual tension, which makes me happy since that puts no pressure on anyone and its all about laughing and having fun.  Nothing exciting to report from that night except having a much needed night out with the boys.

But there was one interesting conversation that came up, actually a question.  One of them, we will call him Matt, asked me to look over at a table of women and if I was sitting there with my friends, what would be the perfect thing for him to come up and say to us?  A pick-up line I asked?  He wanted to hear it from a female point of view.  Even though he is very loyal to his wife, all men and yes, us women too, like to be wanted and flirted with.  So I told him not to be corny, just to start casual conversation.  By this time all 4 of them had gotten in the conversation and now it became a challenge to them on if I was right or wrong.

After 15 minutes of discussing how to just be casual and not seem like all you wanted was to get to 2nd base, they went in for the kill.  Now granted, these women were older than me and somewhat attractive but it was good practice for them.  Needless to say, all of the women had on wedding rings except one and here is where it got interesting.  Matt, told them up front he was married and so did DJ but to my surprise, these women felt the same as my boys, they just wanted attention.  As me and one of the boys sat and watched, I noticed how many times these women touched Matt and them and giggled, acting like little school girls.  "It worked", they said......of course it did.

Next, the girls ended up Tootsies when they found out we were going but bless their hearts, that was too much for the boys.  They tried so hard to get the boys to hang out with them but the challenge was over and so what fun was left?  This is my point, everything is a game in this town.  I heard it and say it first hand.

Summer dreams ripped at the seams
But, oh, those summer nights
Tell me more, tell me more

So how do I expect to go out in this town and not be played like these girls?  I guess its called and learn.  I understand we all must go through the frogs to find our prince but honestly, I have determined this town is just full of frogs.

So now that we have wrapped up another "non"exciting two weekends in the Redneck Riviera, I have a few more topics that are already on my mind, so this will be a busy week for blogs from me so get ready.  Some are still left over topics from these 2 weekends but this blog is already too long so I will spare you.  I do have some new topics that I hope you will comment and give me feedback on.  Don't be shy friends, comment on all my blogs, give me suggestions, help a girl out!!

I have started a few new things in my life and have chosen a few new paths so hopefully they will led me to Mr Right and NOT Mr Right Now.  I will fill you in later this week on how things are going in my adventure for love.

It turned colder, that's where it ends
So I told her we'd still be friends
Then we made our true love vow
Wonder what she's doing now

Happy hunting girls.

One Poop or Two.

Last night I attended a baby shower and I must say it was the best one ever.  How many of you have ever gone to a shower where the guests were almost all tipsy on wine as the poor mother-to-be sat in awe of our giggles and rated R discussions.  First off let me say that kudos to you moms because the stories I heard about delivery and how it affects your body after scared me to death.  I heard all about pooping while giving birth, to when you sneeze you will pee on yourself after,  breast milk squirting in different directions and then no sex for like 6 weeks.  And this isn't even the beginning of the stories about the baby.  I raise my glass to every mother out there.

Now the poor mother-to-be had to put up with everyone telling her these horrific stories and also listening to the tipsy guests conversations of KY burning your VaJaJa. I even heard the word anal bleaching in the room.  If I were her, I would have grab the bottle of wine and chugged it just to deal with us girls.  But I must say it was a gorgeous shower, with fabulous hostesses that cooked a great dinner for us girls.

I just hope that this did not scare me away from ever having sex again cause the light hearted would have run to the nearest convent and joined.  I guess I will know if my new birth control is attending baby showers after this weekend since my gal Amber is coming into town.  And we all know that means a crazy, wild night out on the town in PCB.  Yep, Mondays blog will be interesting so be sure to check back.

Now tonight, I am off to an engagement party to which I am attending as a worker so I am sure tomorrow there will be stories to be told.  I am just keeping my fingers crossed that there will be some handsome groomsmen attending the festivities.

Happy hunting girls.....

Welcome to Sand, Sex and Single.

I ask myself why I have not thought of this blog concept along time ago as I could have keep my friends entertained and possibly help a few broken hearted girls out there.  Anyways, the time has come and here it goes.

Welcome to my roller coaster ride called "LIFE".  I hope you laugh with me, cry with me, get pissed with me and hey, you may even learn something along with way.  I have promised my friends, one to be exact and you know who you are, that I will be very careful and not get myself or her into too much trouble on here cause alot of the stories may not be PG...well, actually none of them probably will be but if it was would that be any fun at all.

Now, this wonderful thing called my "love life", well, it sucks to be honest.  Just a little background for some of you that don't know me well...

  • Will be 40 in November
  • Divorced for 4 years now
  • No kids
  • Live in Panama City Beach - Yep, the Redneck Riviera my friends and Life isn't a beach by the way.
  • Have a marketing company
  • Can count my true friends on one hand and have less true family members than that even.
  • Country girl at heart but definitely have the city in me too. Love my jeans and high heels.
  • Loves to have a good time whether its a party, sports or whatever .
  • Oh and the most important part - I love the guys!
So that sums up enough to get you started and trust me, there will be more.  As my goal or should I say, my hopes for this blog is to give each of you a little insight into the story of an old, single woman who still feels young at heart.  You will go with me on dates, girls night outs, and everywhere else this ride takes us.  But my main stories will be about how hard it is to find "true love" as you get to be my age.  I have tried it all from, Plenty of or should be called Plenty of, friend set-ups, blind dates to the usually bar scene.  Anyways, my past stories will probably get referenced alot as they have been quite interesting to say the least and I definitely want to share those with you.  Good times and the bad times will be told.

So, welcome friends and I hope you enjoy.  Fasten your seat belts cause its gonna be a bumpy ride.

Oh and Amber, go ahead and pop that xanax now cause your gonna need it.
